Galactic Conflict Development is progressing, various vessels have been added to the test combat system.
"Galactic Conflict", the space-based strategy game in development at Stellar Digital Studios, is making great strides in its combat system. In this immersive experience, players will command task forces of warships to achieve critical objectives, ranging from crippling enemy logistics and patrolling borders to launching full-scale assaults against fortified installations. Additionally, players have the option to join allied fleets, lending crucial support to larger operations.
A player fleet engages remnants of the Galactic Assembly over an outerworld planet in the United Coalition
The development team is leveraging the capabilities of the Unity engine to bring this vision to life, implementing advanced lighting, physics, and impact mechanics. Our customizations include planetary rotation, impact effects from heavy weaponry, and targetable, destructible subsystems. Players will need to strategically maneuver their fleets, positioning vessels to maximize firepower against enemy ships while defending their own. Skilled use of strike craft is key. These can disable vital systems on enemy ships. Beware: shielded vessels require shields to be depleted before their subsystems or hull can be damaged.
Power management is a critical aspect in "Galactic Conflict". Every vessel has a finite power level that must be allocated carefully to support different subsystems based on the commander’s tactics and mission requirements. Each ship maintains essential power for core systems (like life support) while remaining power can be distributed to weapons, defenses, sensors, and more. Balancing power between offense and defense is essential for mission success.
Once a player secures their primary objectives, they can choose to either retreat using the nearest system jump point or clear the area of enemies to begin salvaging valuable hulls and equipment. If reinforcements are stationed just one system away, players may call them in mid-combat; however, their arrival depends on each ship’s hyperspace speed, so timing is crucial.
After battle, players are rewarded with components and ship parts to salvage. These can be used to upgrade existing vessels or add new ships to their armada, from advanced weaponry and enhanced power reactors to faster engines. Commanders should note, however, that newly salvaged ships will require extensive repairs before they’re combat-ready.
